Welcome back 2016-2017
WELCOME BACK EVERYONE ,we had a great first meeting and a brilliant turn out , we would like to welcome our whopping 6 new members, we have had a busy summer with all the preparations for the AGM on the 1st &2nd of october we are very excited about this.
during the meeting we had the visit of Kelly Fogarty the executive chairperson of the IPS, and had lots of exciting show and tell ,was a very busy meeting for her to attend .
We brought in our on going Bee Blocks projects that we did over the summer months and also bags and pincushions we made for the Knitting and stitching show also in october . Lola Leacy our secretary gave a brilliant demonstration on a basting gun , another little tool to save our backs ;) and we had some fantastic show and tell from members that have been working over the summer .
Finally we did the hand over of the Minerva cup , that Maya last years winner gave to LInda this years winner , very exciting indeed .
looking forward to next months meeting with the start of our block of the month project and also our upcoming AGM will be over and we can get ourselves back into a normal routine .

Hello everyone I really hope you are enjoying the summer break we willie starting the patchwork society meetings again the 15 th of September, at 7pm at St Patrick parish Hall, we have had quite a few projects to do over the summer, so just a reminder for the members... We have the summer month bee blocks to hand in (and hopefully the first ones are finished for the upcoming agm) also everyone had to make a 15x15" wall hanging on the theme witches and castles, also for those who have signed up for the pincushion swap don't forget those....

We have had a great start to this years meetings we have been busy organizing the annual general meet of the irish patchwork society , we have lots of fun things set up for this year including our guest speaker Dorothy Russel , who will be doing a fabulous New york beauty workshop , this will take place on the 1st and 2nd of October 2016 .
We held our open night in January it was a great occasion for us to show off our recent work and got ourselves a few new members , on the night we had hand and machine appliqué demonstrations , paper piecing and free motion quilting ....

In Febuary ,We have had also had some great demonstrations on machine appliqué by our chair Linda Cowley

We had our "Kathleen Cup" challege it was a hand sewn challenge and Lily Dowling won this year , she is the best at hand sewing .
in february we also started our very own quilting bee inspired by the modern quilters of ireland, Maya was first to be queen bee she chose the polaroid photo blocks and got all the blocks made by all the other participants of the bee
..... and Therese Roche explained how to prepare a sleeve and a bag for sending off to an exhibition and showed some of her beautiful quilts she has had in exhibitions . thank you both ladies

we had a great lesson from Mary ann Brown who explained how to plan a quilt for an exhibition and how to bring it fromm paper to fabric it was very interesting ......
