Back to normal in our October meeting after an eventful weekend at our national AGM we did a brief report of the weekend , and our chair LInda praised all the hard work we had put into the AGM , we also discussed the feedback we had all had . Our meeting was exceptionally on the wednesday as the members were off to the Knitting and stitching show on the bus the Thursday
We carried on with our last few bee block challenges ,Geraldine Ryan got her blocks , the hardest we have done yet , but beautiful foundation piecing blocks and Ann Waters gave out her blocks for next month .We received our 2nd set of blocks for the mystery quilt that will become the minerva cup challenge for June .
Margaret Mcevoy showed us how to make the famous ''fold and stitch wreath'' that has been taking the internet by storm , and also showed us different examples with fusible wadding that made it stand nicely .
Our beginners class brought in their Log Cabin Christmas table runner that they have been painsatkingly making .but were all delighted with the finished runner well done girls !!!
Our very own member Pauline, who is a chiropractor gave a special talk on sewing postures and how to avoid hurting our backs with the position at the machine , and how to relieve tension on our spine , it was very interesting , and everyone was captivated .

National Annual General Meeting 2016

We would like to thank everyone who attended our AGM and helped to make our day go as smoothly as possible , i would especially like to thank our own members who all volunteered and helped set up the room and quilts , we worked especially hard ,we would like to Thank Dorothy Russell and her very helpful and efficient helper/husband Dafydd who did an amazing talk and workshop , we were all very impressed with her work and she is such a lovely lady it was a very enjoyable day .
The AGM meeting was very interesting ,The Chair Report and Treasurer’s report were presented, followed by a report from the Membership Secretary. Kelly Fogarty announced that she is stepping down as chairwoman and the committee is looking for new members to volunteer for the Executive Committee . If you are interested in putting your name down please let us know as soon as possible .
Two motions were presented one was for future Agms to be held in Dublin to be more accessible to everyone , and it was denied , the second was for all the members to make more effort into updating the website , and getting information about workshops, speakers and exhibitions communicated qs early as possible , as the information in the newsletter is often too late .This motion was passed .
Our challenge for the AGM was "Witches and Castles " to go with our city History , the voting was held for the viewers choice , it was almost unanimous result, our own chairwoman Linda Cowley won , congratulations Linda we are very proud of you !!!
We organized a little raffle ,with hampers full of donations from our members ,shops, and local businesses from around the county .
The friday night we had a delightful little reception at the beautiful Kilkenny Town hall with a warm welcome by our Mayor Patrick O'Neill , he gave a lovely speech and a history lesson on our great little City . And a great view from the town hall tower over the high street as the night fell ,a great moment of relaxation before the eventful weekend .\
On the sunday we had our New York beauty workshop ,with Dorothy Russell, we had 13 ladies from all over the country and we had a really great day , it was a lot of fun and Dorothy is an excellent ,calm teacher ,it was very good as we had a few beginners and she walked us through every step!
