branch meetings september and october

This years meetings started with a bang we had a great turn out at our September meeting , and had quite a few new faces , for our fist meeting we had the lovely Bridget Boyle , who came to demonstrate free standing lace on her embroidery machine it was fantastic after she donated them and we were able to raffle them .

We had a great show and tell of all the beautiful work we all made over the summer break, A few members went to Cornwall for sewing retreat  a did a reverse appliqué AbbieAnne Searle from Wadebridge, they made gorgeous seahorse wall hangings and were delighted to tell us all about the trip and show off their fabulous creations , well done ladies .

In october we had the shop Threads of green from kilkenny who brought us lots of christmas fabrics to keep us busy for the race up to the holidays , we also discussed planning the AGM that Kilkenny will be hosting for 2016 and had a show and tell of christmas and halloween decorations to inspire each other .

Margaret Mcevoy And Maya toscani have been giving beginners sewing lessons to the newcomers and we have got them hooked they have been making nine patch table runners and are all delighted by seeing them come together they are all different and very pretty .

The minerva sewing group have been assembling hexagons from our dearest late Kathleen Delaney , who had started a beautiful flower quilt before she sadly passed , we are trying our hardest to get it finished to gift to one of her sons for christmas .
 Our next meeting will take place the 19th of november we will have some exciting news about next years Agm and we will have the lovely isabelle and Avril from sew crafty fabrics at our meeting see you there

September branch meeting

Our meetings will be starting on September 17th at Saint Patricks  Parish Hall from 7.30pm 
new members are welcome to come along , you are most welcome to attend two meetings as a non member to help you decide if you would like to join for a small fee. On our first meeting we will be discussing inscriptions and upcoming activities , we will also have a guest speaker doing an embroidery demonstration and a small pop up shop for the evening and there will be show and tell with the fabulous creations our members made over  the summer.

Annual day trip

On the 20th of june , we went to Limerick as part of our yearly IPS outing , we had a wonderful time at the LImerick school of art and design , to the Exhibition "River of dreams " the quilts were just stunning ...

After the exhibition we went for a great lunch , and then we   spent our money  at The Limerick quilt center , such an eventful day and many memories to treasure...

News

Our last meeting held this week we have changed the committee .I would like to say a big thank you to Allison Baxter and Geraldine Ryan who have been great the past years at chairwoman and secretary , We are also changing the venue to Patricks Parish Hall, Loughboy, Kilkenny on the 3rd Thursday of every month from September 17th, to June from 7.30pm - 9.30pm, .
New members are welcome to come on September 17th Membership costs 40Euro a year and allows you to attend meetings anywhere in Ireland, exhibit with the group, participate in classes and workshops,receive a quarterly national newsletter..everyone is welcome to join whether you are an beginner or advanced sewer , it is a great group for meeting new people with the same passion ,and a great opportunity to make new friends , hope to see you all in september ;)

We also had our yearly challenge for the MINERVA CUP , this year we held a children's quilt making challenge for the BUMBLEance charity who take children to and from hospitals all over ireland this is a fantastic cause and the ladies did a fabulous job in making quilts for them  .
