Summer Trip

Each year the Branch has a Day Trip out. This year 18 of us set out for Limerick to visit The Limerick Quilt Centre, run by Maeve Meany. We arrived at 11.00am to a welcome cup of tea. After looking round the shop and everyone buying what they needed for their next projects Maeve served us a lovely lunch. After lunch she gave us a demonstration on how to make a professional cushion. This included how to make and sew on piping and insert a zip. After another look round the shop, a chat and stories about quiltmaking, we set off on our way home, stopping in Clonmel for a lovely meal in Mr Bumbles Restaurant. We are looking forward to seeing what everyone has made with their purchases in September.

June Meeting

On Thursday 4th June we held our June meeting. We welcomed the new committee and our new Chair, Barbara Schofield, presented a beautiful Orchid to the outgoing Chair, Ann Kelly. We had an amazing show and tell from members and welcomed three guests. Angela Cotter from Dublin, Sheila McDonald from Kilkenny and Joan Webb from the USA. Joan brought some of her work with her to show us. She paints a lots of her own fabric and showed us a piece she is working on to commemorate her husbands retirement from the Fire Service. We gave out fabric for a Summer Challenge and had a nice cup of tea. The next meeting will be at the beginning of September so we wish you all a happy summer of sewing.
