Annual day trip

On the 20th of june , we went to Limerick as part of our yearly IPS outing , we had a wonderful time at the LImerick school of art and design , to the Exhibition "River of dreams " the quilts were just stunning ...

After the exhibition we went for a great lunch , and then we   spent our money  at The Limerick quilt center , such an eventful day and many memories to treasure...

enjoying a nice cup of tea after all the fabulous fabric buying at the quilt center

News

Our last meeting held this week we have changed the committee .I would like to say a big thank you to Allison Baxter and Geraldine Ryan who have been great the past years at chairwoman and secretary , We are also changing the venue to Patricks Parish Hall, Loughboy, Kilkenny on the 3rd Thursday of every month from September 17th, to June from 7.30pm - 9.30pm, .
New members are welcome to come on September 17th Membership costs 40Euro a year and allows you to attend meetings anywhere in Ireland, exhibit with the group, participate in classes and workshops,receive a quarterly national newsletter..everyone is welcome to join whether you are an beginner or advanced sewer , it is a great group for meeting new people with the same passion ,and a great opportunity to make new friends , hope to see you all in september ;)

We also had our yearly challenge for the MINERVA CUP , this year we held a children's quilt making challenge for the BUMBLEance charity who take children to and from hospitals all over ireland this is a fantastic cause and the ladies did a fabulous job in making quilts for them  .

Next Meeting

Our Next Meeting will be on Wednesday 5th February 2014.  This will also be our 9th birthday! We will be having a Valentines Challenge.  Make anything at all as long as it has a heart on it!  Couldn't be easier.  Small prize for the winner, voted by the members.

Raffled Quilt

When we held our last Exhbition in Meubles in August, we raffled a quilt for Cois Nore Cancer Support Centre, just over the road from our monthly meeting place.  The worthy winner of the quilt was Elizabeth O'Hara.  We also raised the sum of €1500  for the centre!  Congratulations Elizabeth.

SM Quilt Exhibition 9-18 August 2013

We are holding a Quilt Exhibition from the 9 -18 August 2013 at Meubles Furniture Store, Ring Road, Kilkenny (near Woodies) http://www.meublesfurniture.com/services/be-inspired.  We have 25 quilts on the beds in the showroom.  Come and visit us during opening hours.  Pick up a ticket for a complimentary tea/coffee to have in their cafe.

New Date and Venue

Sorry we've been away so long!!!! Just to let you know we now have a new meeting date and venue.  We now meet on the 1st Wednesday of the month in St Mary's Day Care Centre, Kilkenny, Co Kilkenny.  This is situated behind the Omniplex cinema and there is plenty of free parking.  We still meet from 7.30 - 10.00. Hope to see some of you there.

Our first Exhibition

We opened our Exhibition on Friday night at Meubles Furniture Store, Kilkenny.  Mayor Martin Brett  opened the Exhibition.

Mayor Brett's tie pattern looked very like a patchwork quilt.  When it was mentioned to him he offered it to us for fund raising purposes.   When we have decided what to do with it we will let you all know!

South Midlands Exhibition Details.

Exhibition Name: Six Years of Quilting
Exhibition Dates:  9th to 17th April 2011.

Venue: Meubles Furniture,

Unit 12, Kilkenny Retail & Business Park, Smithlands, Springhill, Kilkenny.

The showroom is open seven days a week and is located on Kilkenny's ring road between the Waterford Road roundabout and the Bothernatounish Road roundabout. (The retail park also contains Woodies DIY and Hickeys Homefocus amongst others).

Opening hours as follows:

10am to 6pm Monday to Thursday and Saturday.

10am to 8pm Friday.

12pm to 6pm Sunday.
